Once again, Ezra Umarpeh’s services operated right through Yom Tov to support patients and their families whether at home or hospital.
From warehouses in the heart of the Jewish communities of Stamford Hill, Golders Green and Salford, hundreds of medical equipment items were loaned, often out of hours, including nearly two hundred wheelchairs which enabled the elderly and disabled to attend shul and spend Yom Tov with their families.
For those spending Yom Tov in hospital, Succahs were erected in 8 major UK hospitals: Royal Free, Royal London, Homerton, Barnet, Great Ormond Street in London and Central, North Manchester General and Salford Royal in Manchester. Accommodation was provided for tens of families wishing to stay near patients at the Royal Free or Central London Hospitals, and Succahs set up at both premises. All the Shabbos Rooms were stocked with Machzorim, Yom Tov meals, Arba Minim and even Peckalech for Simchas Torah. A grateful user wrote “Thank you for providing a room which was so comfortable and comforting. You thought of absolutely everything!”Ezra Umarpeh wishes to thank the dedicated staff and volunteers who delivered these fabulous services during such a busy time and for the local suppliers who help us keep the Shabbos Rooms so well stocked at all times. A special thank you to all the local school children who sent such lovely decorations for all our Succahs!
